SAVANNAH – Jamie Haney Kress, 75, of Savannah, GA, wife of Walter Kress, died Sunday morning, January 3, 2010, at Candler Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Batesville, MS, she was the daughter of Birdie Mae Eads Haney and Hester McDonald Haney.
Jamie grew up in Waycross, GA and graduated from Waycross High School. While residing in Savannah she received her L.P.N. degree and then graduated from St. Petersburg College with her R.N. degree. She practiced nursing in St. Petersburg, FL and Savannah.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Walter Kress of Savannah; three children, Janet Beth Pynn of Savannah, Randall Kevan Duncan and his wife Brenda of St. Mary's, GA, and Joseph Robert Duncan and his wife Kimberly of St. Petersburg; her sister Faye Hendrix and her husband Charles of Waycross; six grandchildren, Nicole, Lara, Katie, Keith, Nathan, and Kyle; and four great-grandchildren, Trista, Ryan, Thomas, and Alice Beth. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chris Duncan and Jesse Nunn.
A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. Following the service the family will receive friends until 7:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Mary's, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the National Pancreas Foundation.
